About Me

Hi!
I’m Grace, and I live in a small town in New England with my husband and two boys. I’ve always had my head just a bit in the clouds— I’m a daydreamer by nature, and I love to read, write, and stargaze. I also enjoy tennis, board games, all things food, and home decor and renovation.
I’m a working mom, but I don’t always want to be (working, that is), and I used to work part-time when my kids were littler. A (big) part of me wants to get back to that before they get too much bigger, which was the main reason I started this blog (alongside wanting to anchor some of my thoughts and plans to a committed, spelled-out process that I could share with you). All that said, I value some of the contributions I’ve made to the working world, and hope someday they’ll be salient for my kids. (It’s complicated, right?)
I’ve always been a planner, but haven’t had a great track record following through on all of my plans – until I started working with my preferences and leaning into my personality. Because I get tired of something after a while and personally crave variety and change– but paradoxically, also repetition and nostalgia– taking a by-the-month approach really works for me. And because I love all things space, the quirkiness of harnessing my plans to the moon adds that extra bit of fun that helps give the process some luster.
My day job is in Human Resources, where I strive to improve work-life balance and employee experience for the organizations I’ve been a part of. It is my deeply held conviction that, broadly speaking, and certainly in the US, we work too much. That doesn’t mean I think we should all kick back and do nothing, but I do believe in dedicating ourselves to more than just what seems to turn into 50 and 60-hour workweeks sending out meaningless emails, or being plugged into work constantly in our digital, increasingly remote world.
To me, a strong system by which to organize your life is imperative today, and I hope that Plan by the Moon can help you as it has me — not least of all, because it keeps us looking forward to something and appreciating the time of year we’re caught up in, while the world around us can often be a grind that keeps us from noticing.
